Ninja Gadgets Trade-in Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 29 August 2026

These Trade-in Terms & Conditions apply when you submit a device to Ninja Gadgets for a quote or sell a device to us through our Trade-in Service.

Please read these terms before sending your device.

By accepting a trade-in quote and sending your device to Ninja Gadgets, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.

1. About Ninja Gadgets

1.1 Ninja Gadgets is an independent UK technology retailer and device buyer based in East Lothian, Scotland.

In these terms, "Ninja Gadgets", "we", "us" and "our" mean Ninja Gadgets.

"You", "your" and "Seller" mean the person submitting or selling a device to Ninja Gadgets.

1.2 Our Trade-in Service allows eligible customers to receive a quote for their device and, following inspection, sell the device directly to Ninja Gadgets.

1.3 Ninja Gadgets is the buyer of your device. We are not acting as a marketplace or intermediary.

1.4 You can contact us regarding a trade-in at:

Email: sales@ninja-gadgets.co.uk

2. Who can use the Trade-in Service?

2.1 You must be at least 18 years old to sell a device to Ninja Gadgets.

2.2 The Trade-in Service is intended primarily for individuals selling devices for personal, non-commercial purposes.

If you are selling devices as part of a business, reseller operation or other commercial activity, please contact us before submitting them.

2.3 You must provide accurate contact and payment information.

2.4 You must not impersonate another person or provide false information when submitting a trade-in.

3. Devices we can accept

3.1 Our Trade-in Service currently covers eligible devices shown on our website, including selected Apple iPhones.

We may add or remove models from the Trade-in Service at any time.

3.2 We may refuse to purchase a device if it:

  • Has been reported lost or stolen.

  • Is blocked or blacklisted.

  • Is subject to an unresolved ownership dispute.

  • Is subject to a lease, hire agreement or other arrangement that prevents you from legally selling it.

  • Has an active iCloud, Find My, Activation Lock, MDM or similar account lock.

  • Is counterfeit or has had its identity, serial number or IMEI altered.

  • Has severe liquid damage, battery swelling or another condition that makes the device unsafe to handle or transport.

  • Is materially different from the device submitted for quotation.

  • Cannot reasonably be tested or identified.

  • Is otherwise unsuitable for resale, repair or responsible recycling.

3.3 Previous repairs or replacement parts do not automatically prevent us from buying a device.

However, non-genuine parts, damaged components, device warnings, poor-quality repairs or modifications may affect its value.

4. Your ownership of the device

By submitting a device, you confirm that:

4.1 You are the legal owner of the device or have the owner's authority to sell it.

4.2 You have the legal right to transfer ownership of the device to Ninja Gadgets.

4.3 The device has not been obtained through theft, fraud or any other unlawful activity.

4.4 The device is not subject to any agreement that prevents you from selling it.

4.5 Any information you give us about the device is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

4.6 If a device is later reported lost, stolen or blocked because of circumstances that existed before you sold it to us, we reserve the right to take reasonable action to recover losses caused by deliberately false or misleading information.

Nothing in this section limits either party's rights under applicable law.

5. Information about your device

5.1 When requesting a quote, you must describe the device as accurately as reasonably possible.

Depending on the device, we may ask about:

  • Model.

  • Storage capacity.

  • Colour.

  • Screen condition.

  • Frame condition.

  • Rear glass condition.

  • Battery health.

  • Face ID or Touch ID.

  • Cameras.

  • Speakers and microphones.

  • Charging.

  • Buttons.

  • Connectivity.

  • Known faults.

  • Previous damage or repair.

  • Other relevant characteristics.

5.2 Our quote relies on the information you provide.

If the actual device differs from your description, we may revise the quote after inspection.

5.3 We understand that you may not know about every internal issue with your phone.

A revised offer does not necessarily mean that we believe you deliberately provided incorrect information.

6. Your initial quote

6.1 The amount provided before we physically inspect your device is an initial estimated quote.

6.2 Your initial quote is based entirely on the information supplied by you.

6.3 Accepting an initial quote does not complete the sale.

The sale is only completed after:

  • We receive and inspect the device.

  • We confirm the final purchase price.

  • You accept any revised offer where applicable.

  • We process payment.

6.4 Unless stated otherwise when the quote is issued, quotes are normally valid for 14 calendar days.

6.5 If we receive your device after the quote has expired, we may provide an updated quote based on its current market value.

6.6 If we receive the device within the quote period and its condition matches the information supplied, we will not reduce the quote simply because the general market value of that model has fallen in the meantime.

7. Preparing your device

Before sending your device, you must:

7.1 Back up anything you wish to keep.

7.2 Sign out of your Apple ID, Google account or other accounts linked to the device.

7.3 Disable Find My iPhone, Find My Device, Activation Lock or equivalent security features.

7.4 Remove your passcode where requested.

7.5 Remove SIM cards and memory cards.

7.6 Remove personal data and factory reset the device where possible.

7.7 Remove cases or accessories unless we specifically ask you to send them.

Do not send SIM cards, bank cards, memory cards or other personal items with your device.

8. Your data

8.1 You are responsible for backing up any information you want to keep before sending your device.

8.2 Devices may be erased, reset or restored during inspection, testing, repair or preparation for resale.

This process may permanently remove any data remaining on the device.

8.3 Ninja Gadgets is not responsible for recovering data from a device after it has been submitted to us.

8.4 If personal data remains on the device, we will take reasonable steps to securely erase it where technically possible.

8.5 An account or activation lock may prevent us from accessing, testing or erasing the device.

If this happens, we may ask you to remotely remove the device from your account.

8.6 Personal information that you provide to us as part of the Trade-in Service will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection law.

9. Sending your device

9.1 Follow the postage instructions provided with your trade-in.

9.2 Your device must be packaged securely.

We strongly recommend:

  • Using a strong box.

  • Protecting the phone with suitable padding.

  • Preventing the phone from moving inside the package.

  • Photographing the device immediately before packing it.

  • Photographing the device inside the parcel.

  • Keeping proof of postage and tracking information.

9.3 If Ninja Gadgets provides you with a prepaid postage label, you should use the service specified on that label.

9.4 If you arrange your own postage without agreement from us, the device remains your responsibility until it is delivered to Ninja Gadgets.

You should use an appropriately insured and tracked delivery service.

9.5 Ninja Gadgets is not responsible for damage caused by clearly inadequate packaging.

9.6 If a prepaid shipping service provided by Ninja Gadgets loses or damages your parcel, we will assist with the relevant carrier claim, provided you followed the packaging and postage instructions.

Any compensation may be subject to the carrier's terms and insurance limits.

10. Inspection

10.1 When we receive your device, we will inspect and test it.

10.2 Inspection may include:

  • Checking the IMEI and serial number.

  • Checking for lost or stolen device reports.

  • Cosmetic inspection.

  • Battery testing.

  • Screen testing.

  • Face ID or Touch ID testing.

  • Camera testing.

  • Charging testing.

  • Speaker and microphone testing.

  • Button testing.

  • Connectivity testing.

  • Diagnostic testing.

  • Checking for previous repairs or replacement parts.

  • Checking for liquid damage or internal damage where appropriate.

10.3 We may photograph the device and record diagnostic information for the purpose of documenting its condition.

10.4 We aim to inspect devices and confirm the trade-in value as soon as reasonably practical after delivery.

11. When the device matches your description

11.1 If the device matches the information you provided and passes our inspection, we will confirm the quoted amount.

11.2 We will normally process payment within 2 business days after the device has passed inspection and we have all information required to make payment.

11.3 Payment will normally be made by bank transfer or another payment method agreed with you.

11.4 Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to make the funds available.

12. Revised offers

12.1 If our inspection finds that the device is materially different from the description provided, we may make a revised offer.

Reasons may include:

  • More significant cosmetic damage than declared.

  • Cracked glass.

  • Display damage.

  • Faulty Face ID or Touch ID.

  • Camera faults.

  • Charging faults.

  • Battery condition differing significantly from the information supplied.

  • Liquid damage.

  • Bent housing or chassis damage.

  • Replacement or non-genuine components that materially affect value.

  • Device warnings.

  • Previous repairs that materially affect the value or reliability of the device.

  • Network, IMEI or account restrictions.

  • A different model or storage capacity.

  • Other faults discovered during testing.

12.2 We will explain the reason for a revised offer.

12.3 Where reasonably practical, we may also provide photographs, diagnostic results or other information supporting the revised assessment.

12.4 You may either accept or reject the revised offer.

If you accept

The revised price becomes the final purchase price and we will process your payment.

If you reject

We will return the device to you.

For an otherwise eligible device where you simply disagree with our revised valuation, Ninja Gadgets will normally cover the reasonable cost of returning the device.

You will not be charged an inspection fee.

12.5 We will never treat your failure to respond as automatic acceptance of a reduced offer.

13. Devices we cannot purchase

13.1 If we discover that a device is not eligible for purchase, we may cancel the trade-in.

Examples include:

  • Activation locked devices.

  • Lost or stolen devices.

  • Blacklisted devices.

  • Counterfeit devices.

  • Devices that cannot legally be sold by the person submitting them.

  • The wrong item being sent.

  • Devices presenting a significant safety risk.

13.2 Where an activation lock remains, we may give you an opportunity to remove it remotely before cancelling the trade-in.

13.3 Where a device cannot be purchased because the wrong device was sent, an account lock was not removed or another eligibility requirement was not met, we may ask you to cover reasonable tracked return postage.

We will tell you about any return cost before arranging the return.

13.4 If we reasonably suspect that a device is stolen, fraudulent or connected with criminal activity, we may report the matter to the police, network operator or another appropriate authority.

Where required by law or instructed by the relevant authority, we may be unable to return the device.

14. Responding to us

14.1 Please respond promptly if we contact you regarding:

  • A revised offer.

  • An activation lock.

  • Payment information.

  • Ownership information.

  • Return arrangements.

  • Any other issue preventing completion of your trade-in.

14.2 If we make a revised offer, you will normally have 7 calendar days to accept or reject it.

14.3 If you do not respond, we may send reminders using the contact information you supplied.

14.4 We will not automatically accept a revised offer on your behalf because you failed to respond.

14.5 If a device remains with us for an extended period because you have not responded despite repeated attempts to contact you, we may take reasonable steps permitted under applicable law regarding storage, return or disposal of the device.

We will provide further notice before taking such action.

Failure to respond does not, by itself, transfer ownership of the device to Ninja Gadgets.

15. Cancelling a trade-in

15.1 You may cancel your trade-in before sending the device.

15.2 You may also ask to cancel after sending it, provided we have not already completed inspection, accepted the device and processed payment.

15.3 Once payment has been processed and the sale has completed, the trade-in cannot normally be reversed.

16. Transfer of ownership

16.1 Ownership remains with you while the device is being assessed.

16.2 Ownership transfers to Ninja Gadgets when:

  • We have accepted the device for purchase.

  • The final purchase price has been agreed.

  • We process payment to you.

16.3 Once ownership has transferred, Ninja Gadgets may repair, renew, dismantle, recycle or resell the device.

17. Payment problems

17.1 You are responsible for providing accurate payment information.

17.2 We may delay payment where:

  • Bank details are incomplete or incorrect.

  • We need to verify your identity or ownership of the device.

  • We reasonably suspect fraud.

  • The device is reported lost, stolen or blacklisted.

  • There is an unresolved dispute concerning ownership of the device.

17.3 We may request reasonable identification or proof of ownership where needed to prevent fraud or comply with legal requirements.

18. Returns from Ninja Gadgets

18.1 Where we return a device, we will normally use a tracked delivery service.

18.2 The device will be returned to the address agreed with you.

18.3 You are responsible for providing an accurate return address.

18.4 Please contact us promptly if a returned parcel has not arrived when expected.

19. Liability

19.1 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

19.2 Ninja Gadgets is not responsible for:

  • Data you fail to back up before sending a device.

  • SIM cards or memory cards accidentally left inside a device.

  • Loss resulting from incorrect payment or contact information supplied by you.

  • Damage that existed before the device reached us.

  • Damage caused by clearly inadequate packaging.

  • Delays outside our reasonable control.

19.3 Nothing in these terms affects any rights or remedies you have under applicable law.

20. Fraud and misuse

20.1 We may suspend or cancel a trade-in where we reasonably suspect:

  • Fraud.

  • Theft.

  • Identity misuse.

  • Deliberate misrepresentation.

  • Manipulation of a device's IMEI or serial number.

  • Abuse of the Trade-in Service.

20.2 We may share relevant information with law enforcement, fraud prevention services, network providers or other appropriate organisations where permitted or required by law.

21. Changes to these Terms

21.1 We may update these Trade-in Terms from time to time.

21.2 The terms that apply to your trade-in will normally be the version in force when you submit your trade-in request.

21.3 Changes made after you have submitted a device will not normally apply retrospectively to that trade-in.

22. Applicable law and disputes

22.1 These Trade-in Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland.

22.2 If you have a problem with your trade-in, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve the matter directly.

Email: sales@ninja-gadgets.co.uk

22.3 Nothing in these terms removes any mandatory legal rights you may have or prevents you from bringing proceedings in another UK jurisdiction where applicable law gives you that right.
